Observation #17: Clotheslines

Clotheslines are cheaper than dryers. Clotheslines are more energy efficient than dryers. Clotheslines do not work well in the rain. The rainforest is not known for its aridity.

  1. ...I suggest you look into the effect of UV rays on colored clothes, but also weigh that against the fading energy of forced-air, tumble-dry and whatever chemicals you pass your clothes through in the washing/drying cycles; I hear that if you turn your shirts and pants inside out before you machine dry them (with softener sheets, or whatever) OR, you do the same (or not) on a clothes line outdoors, your machine dried clothes deteriorate faster than your line-dried clothes. And, your line-dried clothes are more comfortable to wear, next day.

I don't know, since I'm a slave to the laundromat, but maybe you can do a real-time test?

    1. Haha. If only I had access to a dryer this would be great advice.
